FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The following should answer some of the questions that most of my new Moms and Dads ask:
SHIPPING~~~I will email you an AWB# from American Airlines. You will go to the American Airlines luggage counter at the airport. You MUST have your ID and also the AWB# and request your puppy. The person picking up the puppy must be the same one that you have given me the ID information on. You can go to www.aacargo.com and in the TRACK YOUR SHIPMENT field enter the AWB#. That tracks the puppy from check in thru the flight changes during the day.
~ What food do we feed?
Royal Canin and the puppies get Nutrisource Small and Medium Breed Chricken and Rice puppy food. We also feed Pedigree canned dogfood – small amounts. When they are being weaned I mix a little canned food with a little water and make gravy to stir into the dry food for them. They always love that.
~What should I do when I first get the puppy?
Make sure it eats SOMETHING. It has had a long day traveling and this is the first time it has left its littermates behind. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING is different than it was in his/her birth place. The sounds, the smells, the water, no familiar voices-all is different and scary and to top it all off it is tired. We put dry food in the cage for the day and sometimes they eat it and sometimes they don’t so it is important to coax them into getting something into their tummy. They will usually eat a little canned Pedigree. You can also offer yogurt, cottage cheese, raw carrots, a bite of cooked hamburger or maybe a scrambled egg. They do not get water along the way either so they are normally very thirsty. Go easy at first so it doesn't make them have an upset stomach.
~What kind of bed should I buy?
![]()
All of our litters are raised on beds like the picture above. Even at just a few days of age they rest their heads on the edge of the pad. I like the collapsible wire crates like the one above. They get plenty of airflow and most of them come with a divider that you can reduce the size of the crate when they are tiny and increase as they grow larger. When not in use it stores away nicely. Most discount stores carry them and a lot of places online carry them. They last forever too:)
~What size collar should I buy?
I do not like dog collars!! I work part time in a veterinary clinic and many, many times a client comes thru the door with a collar and leash and NO dog! They can slip the collar over their head and be loose in just a split second.
I prefer an adjustable harness that can expand with the growing puppy. They are much safer on the puppy’s body and you can remain in control of the pet.
